Every Saranna system delivered in Norway includes on-site setup by Thorbjørn Sigberg: placement, in-room measurements, calibration and a full walkthrough. When we're done, the system performs the way you want it to, in your room.
In other countries, remote sessions with Thorbjørn are included, and on-site setup is available on request. Contact us for more information.

Design details
Full range coaxial main driver
The front of the Saranna reveals a single, high performance coaxial driver with powerful neodymium magnets. It covers almost the entire audible range, ensuring that Saranna is perceived as a true point source with exceptional imaging and soundstage.
The midrange is covered by a powerful 8" optimized for midbass and lower midrange. From 1500hz and up, a horn loaded polymer compression driver with a radial phase plug provides high capacity and low distortion.
Directivity controlled midrange
The cardioid ports on the sides of the Saranna reduce reflections from the side walls and the wall behind the speakers. The result is increased clarity and improved soundstage. This is what gives Saranna her unique vocal performance, and ability to sound clear and tidy even on complex music productions.
This also ensures the rhythmic and punchy nature of the upper bass and lower midrange is directed towards the listener, and not muddied by reflections in the room.
Rear mounted subwoofer drivers
Looking at Saranna from the front, it looks like the entire frequency range is covered by a single driver. Peek behind her, and two high-end 8" subwoofer drivers are revealed. Low port tuning ensures tight, powerful bass all the way down to 20hz in-room. Finally the drivers are vertically spaced for smoother frequency response.
The rear mounted approach combined with the recommended placement of only 15-50 cm from the wall is unusual, but no accident. This allows for boundary coupling with the wall, a trick borrowed from our Inkognito subwoofers. The result is more powerful and even bass response than traditional speakers.
All Sigberg Audio speakers are built by hand in Norway, and they are measured and verified as matched pairs.
The Saranna experience
While Saranna must be heard to be fully understood, here are some bullets describing the listening experience.
- Saranna is by design an allrounder. Great records sound truly exceptional, and even less than perfect records sound very good.
- Complex and highly dynamic records are handled with ease. Saranna pulls off the feat of sounding effortless no matter what you play.
- Saranna presents a huge soundstage and pinpoint imaging. Counterintuitively, the true point source behaviour makes the speaker truly disappear.
- Deep, tight bass that is controlled even at loud volume. If you ever heard a perfectly integrated subwoofer system, that's what the Saranna sounds like.
- Saranna features an extremely high performing compression horn, enabling high frequencies that are at the same time detailed and butter smooth.

PLACEMENT RECOMMENDATION
Recommended distance from back wall 10-50cm (4-20 inches). Try to keep them at least 40cm (15 inches) from the side walls. Toe-in 0-15 degrees. The distance between speakers should be at least as long as the distance between the speakers and you.
CONNECTIONS
Our speakers are active, so no power amplifier needed. A DAC, preamp or streamer with XLR/RCA preouts is all you need. If your system have variable volume digital outputs, you can also use digital in via Coaxial, Optical or AES.
The Sarannas work well in most rooms out of the box. By simply pressing a button at the back of the speakers, you switch through presets that further tailor the speakers to your room or preference.
Want more advanced? Our speakers have built-in EQ. If you have the ability to perform measurements of your setup, we even offer free assistance with evaluating the measurements and suggesting appropriate EQ adjustments!

Full-range bass from a single cabinet
Not every room (or everyone) wants the multiple subwoofers you get with the Manta and SBS speaker systems. The Saranna is the answer for those who want deep, full-range bass from a single cabinet per side.
Two 8" bass drivers sit at the rear. Boundary coupling with the wall gives you powerful, even bass down to 20Hz in-room, from a speaker that takes up no more floor space than a conventional floorstander.
Three bass presets let you match it to your room at the press of a button.
Built for the room you actually have
Most speakers are designed as if the room isn't there. In practice, a large part of what you hear is sound bouncing off your walls, floor and ceiling. Which is why the same speakers sound different in every room.
The Saranna is cardioid: it directs sound towards you and away from the walls. You hear more of the speaker and less of the room. Built-in presets lets you tailor the bass with the press of a button.

The vision
The Saranna represents our most ambitious loudspeaker project to date.
The goal was to create a floorstander with the transparency and transient accuracy of a studio monitor while delivering the award winning full-range sound of our subwoofer-integrated systems. With passion for all music.
Finishes / Colors
Saranna comes in two finishes: Fade To Black and Shady White. In the Fade To Black, subtle details define the experience. Instead of relying on contrast in color, we embrace a monochromatic design where the interplay of materials and textures creates depth. In Shady White, there is a more direct shift between the white paint and grey wood.
As the painted core subtly shifts with the light, the side panels introduce a refined contrast in texture and tactility. This is realized through the use of exclusive Italian multilaminar wood veneer designed by Piero Lissoni of Alpi.

Each side features a panel covered by exclusive Italian black wood veneer by Piero Lissoni of Alpi.

The core structure of the loudspeaker is painted pitch black in a luxurious satin finish.

Viscoelastic damping feet
The Saranna rests on custom viscoelastic damping feet from Egeland Acoustics. The internal 3D wave pattern has been designed to match the weight of each speaker, for ideal decoupling and dampening.
The result is a stable platform that minimizes vibration transfer both to and from the speaker.

All our products are built with user-replaceable amplifier module and drivers. It takes about ten minutes with basic tools. No soldering. You receive a new module or driver immediately rather than waiting for a repair, shipped express to your door. If you'd rather not do it yourself, we'll arrange and pay for a local representative to do it under warranty, or provide it at cost outside warranty.
